MEDIA RELEASE – New drumMUSTER site for Barossa Valley farmers

Published: 30-10-2018

Barossa Valley farmers now have access to a drumMUSTER collection site in Tanunda.

Located at Kuchel Contractors at 52 Siegersdorf Rd, farmers will be able to dispose of their eligible, clean agvet chemical containers responsibly. There is an open day on 14 November for people to bring in the agvet containers to the new drumMUSTER site.

drumMUSTER offers environmental-friendly solutions by collecting the eligible containers for recycling.

Landholders also often have unwanted chemicals in storage and the ChemClear program provides farmers with an opportunity to safely dispose of these unwanted chemicals to protect communities, livestock, land and waterways.

Both programs allow chemical users to clear out sheds responsibly.

drumMUSTER National Compliance Manager, Allan McGann, said chemical users should always be vigilant.

“Even through busy periods during the year farmers need to be aware of the requirements for safe and effective disposal of their used chemicals and containers,” Mr McGann said.

“It is important to remember that the QA programs, require growers to meet waste management standards and that includes chemical and container disposal.

“It is also just good farm practice, which ensures your family and employees stay safe”.

Farmers and landowners can register their old chemicals for disposal online or by phoning the collection hotline.

Chemical containers displaying the drumMUSTER logo are eligible for free collection through both
