The Heavy Vehicle National Law’s Industry Master Code has now been finalised and released It has been developed by the ATA and Australian Logistics Council to assist all businesses in the chain of responsibility to manage common risks and improve safety. This is a code developed by the industry, for the industry.
The Industry Master Code is freely available to all heavy vehicle operators and supply chain parties and can also be used in court to highlight known risks and control methods.
The changes that came into effect in October 2018, align Chain of Responsibility (CoR) more closely with work health and safety laws. Companies that operate, load, drive, send or receives goods using a heavy vehicle, need to make certain all reasonably practicable steps are taken to ensure vehicles are properly loaded and goods secured.
