Fundraising for community groups

Published: 25-05-2015

Did you know that drumMUSTER supports various community groups as they help bring about environmental change in rural regions?

There are currently 119 drumMUSTER community groups across Australia who have collected close to 3.5 million drums and raised over $880,000 between them. These include local charities, rural fire authorities, service clubs, school support groups, sporting clubs and Landcare groups.

If your community group is interested in partnering with drumMUSTER, contact your local regional consultant or call 1800 008 707 for more information.

Please note that drumMUSTER will undertake an initial assessment of your group’s location and logistical requirements before approving applications. Collection agency agreements are required to be signed with Agsafe and all community groups must have public liability insurance and an ABN.

Many community groups who participate in the program have achieved significant milestones. Over the past year:

  • More than 31,400 empty agvet containers have been collected by Kioma State School’s P&C Association. They offer the service in conjunction with Goondiwindi Regional Council.
  • More than 141,700 empty agvet containers have been collected by Dalby Rugby Union Club, which offers the service on behalf of Western Downs Regional Council. This is the highest number of drums collected by a community group in Australia.
  • The Grampian Regional Waste Management Group recorded one million drums. This includes 92,900 drums from five local community groups who raised $23,225 in total.

drumMUSTER provides regular training for community group members in the safe handling, cleanliness, inspection and storage of the returned drums. Training also covers the reporting required to track the program’s performance at each site.
