Relocation of Morwell drumMUSTER collection site

Published: 24-07-2015

Agvet chemical users in Morwell have a new port of call with the relocation of the collection site at the Morwell Transfer Station on Porters Lane to DASMA Environmental Services on Tramway Road.

Over the past few years, drumMUSTER has made huge strides to make it easier for all agvet chemical users across Gippsland to dispose of their empty agvet chemical containers.

Farmers can now deliver their empty drums on an ongoing basis from Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. Bookings are required and an appointment can be made by calling (03) 5134 1455.

DASMA’s Director Alfie Di Sipio is looking forward to establishing the new Morwell collection site as one of the best in Victoria.

“I’m keen to engage in a long-term relationship with agvet chemical users throughout the region in support of this worthy environmental cause,” he said.

A milestone five million drums has been collected since the inception of the program in Victoria. Nationally, drumMUSTER has surpassed 25.8 million drums.

In addition, the southern Gippsland region has become a real success story for the program, with the area collecting more than 160,000 drums in the past 14 years.

Once collected, the containers are shredded and transformed into practical items such as plastic cable covers, wheelie bins, road signs and bollards.

drumMUSTER Regional Consultant Vernon Keighley believes many waste holders are still waiting for a call to action.

“It’s now much easier for farmers to dispose of their drums. With more than 20 drumMUSTER sites including Morwell spread out across Gippsland, most are open during normal landfill opening hours so farmers and others no longer need to wait for a monthly or even annual collection since we have several sites operating on an ongoing basis.”

drumMUSTER is free to users thanks to a 4 cents per litre/kilogram levy paid on eligible products from participating chemical companies who have signed onto the stewardship program.

DASMA, the leading hook lift bin supplier in Gippsland, can also supply a range of big or small hook lift bins which are great for demolitions or cleaning up your property. Call the number mentioned above between 7am – 5pm, seven days a week, to obtain a free quote.
